Acne scarring can occur in individuals with only minor acne or if the acne has been prolonged or severe. Generally an acne scar will emerge if the acne has not been treated early and adequately. If there is a family history of acne or acne scarring, it may increase one’s susceptibility to the concern.

WHAT IS IT?

Acne scars can range from red, sensitive skin to depressed indented scars that are thickened. Thickened types of red or brown scars are most commonly found on the jawline, back or chest. Indented scars, commonly referred to as ice pick scars, occur on the cheeks, chin and temples. Often with indented scars, the skin’s structure appears dissolved and scars are quite deep.
There are several treatment options available including Chemical Peels, Skin Needling, and Microdermabrasion. When discussing treatment options with your therapist, you will be advised both of your suitability for the treatment, costs and benefits.

WHAT IS IT?

Treatments are gentle and feel similar to having a facial. They can take anywhere from 10 to 30 minutes, with no recovery time.

WHY SHOULD I GET IT?

Early studies suggest that repeated microdermabrasion treatment at regular intervals may influence the way the lower layers of skin grow, as well as removing deeper blemishes over time. All skin requires regular conditioning treatments to encourage radiance. Microdermabrasion conditions the skin, removes dead skin cells and allows new, healthy skin to shine through increasing radiance and glow!
The effects will last approximately a month, but can vary from person to person. We recommend six sessions at fortnightly or monthly intervals for ultimate improvement.

Skin needling, also known as dermal rolling, the treatment involves applying a small roller made of tiny surgical needles to the surface of the skin designed to stimulate skin cells and encourage new tissue formation. The procedure will improve the thickness of the dermis and the epidermis, improving skin texture and reducing wrinkles. Skin Needling also has a positive effect on hyper and hypo-pigmentation and effectively treats acne scars.

The benefits of skin needling include tissue regeneration, skin rejuvenation, collagen induction therapy, wrinkles, hyper-pigmentation reduction, pore size reduction, stretch marks, acne scarring and hair loss therapy.

We recommend starting with three treatments with around six to eight weeks rest in between. We will clean your skin apply a numbing cream. Your skin is then needled ensuring a complete coverage of the surface. An even flushing is the best indication of a successful application.

The procedure is safe. Our clients usually return to normal duties within a couple of hours, however a pinkish tinge may last for 12 to 24 hours. For 48 hours after the application we recommend you don’t apply glycolic acid, retinol, any acidic skincare products or any products advertising ‘active’ ingredients. We also recommend using SPF30+ sunscreen in the days after the procedure.

This unique peel is suitable for most skin types and will renew, brighten, and smooth the skin while providing anti-bacterial support and improving hydration.

Ageless Peel – A retinol based dermal peel which will assist in the rebuilding of the dermis. Stimulating and awakening cells deep within the skin to increase collagen, revitalise and provide the skin with a smoother, radiant complexion.
